Why Did You Choose Me?
Written by Katie!

Imagine how insecure an adopted or fostered child must feel at times, unsure why their biological parents did not keep them and wondering whether their forever family might one day let them go too. Every child needs to hear from their parents that they are loved and wanted, and children from broken homes need to hear it most of all.

My husband and I adopted our three children, and this book grew out of the questions they asked us. I wrote it to lead them to the answer we kept coming back to: there never really was a choice. We knew right away that they were ours.

When I went looking for adoption storybooks to read at bedtime, I found very few written for young children. I wanted parents to have one they could hold in their laps and read to their adopted or fostered kids at the end of the day. A companion devotional is in the works.

Join me as I chat with Katie Cruice Smith and she shares how God redirected her dream of motherhood after years of infertility and ultimately grew her family through the adoption of three biological siblings. She also challenges the church to look beyond labels and circumstances and see every child as someone created by God, loved by Him, and worthy of welcome and support.

Katie also shares the incredible story behind her children’s book, Why Did You Choose Me?, which began as an essay she wrote while applying for an adoption grant! You won't want to miss this!

Missy Eversole

Welcome Friends!

My name is Missy, and I love Jesus!

I am a Christ-follower, wife, mom, author, speaker, Colson Fellow, and host of the Bold Faith Now podcast. My heart is to encourage believers to live boldly for Jesus in a world that often tells us to stay quiet, blend in, or keep our faith tucked safely in the shadows.

Through writing, speaking, and podcasting, I help believers grow in bold faith, stand firm in truth, and view the world through a biblical worldview. Because following Jesus was never meant to be passive. It is a call to shine His light, speak truth with grace, and take the next obedient step.

My prayer is simple: to point others to Jesus, encourage bold faith, and remind believers that now is the time to live courageously for Him. Join the Bold Faith community and listen to the podcast for encouragement to live out your faith with conviction, clarity, and courage.
