5 Bible Verses to Inspire Faith Over Fear

Faith Over Fear – A Mountain Top Experience

Have you ever had a “mountain-top” experience?

Last month, I attended the She Speaks Conference in Charlotte, NC. Proverbs 31 Ministries hosted the conference, and it was a joy to see old friends, make new friends, and hug the women I serve with on the Online Bible Studies team.

It was a mountain-top experience.

Figuratively and literally.

On the drive home in the mountains of Virginia, I found myself amid a severe thunderstorm and stand-still traffic.

Dead stopped. No movement whatsoever.

Thankfully, I was near an exit, so I could drive to the nearest gas station and top off my tank.

I asked the cashier what was happening, and he replied in a sweet Southern accent, “There’s been an accident right before the tunnel.”

The tunnel was the one that went through the mountain and into West Virginia, and I was a good hour away from it.

His suggestion was for me to take a state route over the mountain.

So, with a tank full of gas, I said a prayer, and off I went.

Friend, amid the storm, I saw the most beautiful scenery. God’s work was on display!

As the rain tapered off, the rainbows emerged, and the winding roads led up to the mountain and back down.

I went through small towns and was greeted by little country churches that lined the mountainside. Their white steeples and crosses brought me comfort. Before I knew it, I was on the other side of the mountain and on my way to Ohio.

Here’s the thing, my anxiety was at an all-time high because I was in a situation that I could not control. Through prayer, I could calm myself down and trust God would get me through that situation.

And He did!

Friend, whatever you are going through today, lean on Him! You will get through your storm. And when you do, you will see the beauty that surrounds you!

Five Bible Verses to Inspire Faith Over Fear

Sometimes when fear surrounds you, recalling a Bible verse is hard. We are often focused on the storm, not the Word of God.

Here are 5 Verses to Focus on as you move your eyes from what you are facing to God.

  1. Isaiah 41:10 – “Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”
  2. Matthew 6:34 – “Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.”
  3. 2 Timothy 1:7 – “For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.”
  4. Psalm 56:3 – “When I am afraid, I put my trust in you.”
  5. Psalm 55:22 -“Cast your burden on the Lord, and he will sustain you; he will never permit the righteous to be moved.”

Let’s Chat!

I previously worked for a company for almost 4 years. The blessing was the manager was a Christian, the supervisor was awesome! I worked security and at the beginning the employees weren’t thrilled have me there at the front desk enforcing policies. I would greet every single one them daily. I eventually grew on them by the Grace of God. Recently, I applied for another job because it paid more, and as the saying goes, ‘The grass isn’t always green on the other side.’ Within the first week, things were shady sort of speak, and by the end of the following week, anxiety arose and I left the job. There was so many emotions and anger towards myself for leaving a stable job for one that wasn’t. I am currently unemployed, and looking for a job. My hope in Christ is to land a career, and one where He can use me. Most of the time I am unable to discern.

I’m afraid. All the time I have these horrible thoughts. I feel lost, like I’m doing everything wrong with God. I’m afraid that I missed my chance, that the chance that I had with the Savior, the chance to have faith and believe, and I can’t. I’ve done bad things, I’ve been hopeless, I’ve lived and cried alone. I feel like no one gets me, and I’m afraid God is already over me. I’m afraid to go to church, because I feel out of place. I struggle too much, I overthink too much, and I feel fake. Like my life with God is a script, written on paper, not genuine, even though I desire a connection with Jesus.

It’s been a rolloercoaster of emotions and financial difficulties since the death of my husband. I was so used to him handling everything, now it’s only me. My husband came to know God and since his passing I have lost my faith. I pray, I shout, I cry and nothing changes. I want to have my faith back , I want my faith back with Christ I feel so lost.
