The Bible and the Stream

We take so much for granted here in the United States.

We have the necessities such as food, shelter, and clothes. But we also have additional “luxury” items such as phones, the internet, and computers.

Somewhere, in a third world country, a mom is making very little to provide for her family of four.  She is struggling to provide the necessities of food, shelter, and clothes.

I would like to add a fourth basic necessity that we Americans have: The Bible

We Have It Made in America!

Last week, our youngest son and I had dinner with a sweet friend of ours who is a missionary. Ashley was my son’s fourth-grade teacher (six years ago!) and left the teaching field for the mission field. When she’s back in the states, we try and to meet up with her to catch up. We love hearing about how the Word is impacting life in countries where Christianity is not the primary religion.

She told us the story of a married couple, who between them shared a Bible. Too poor to afford a new Bible, let alone no means to even access one, they decided to pray about it.

One day, while down by the stream, they were amazed to find a Bible sitting on the bank. It was wet and still readable. They were thrilled that their prayers were answered and they now each have to Bible to read!

Friends, I am sitting in a Barnes and Nobles writing this post, and I can walk over to the Bible section and hold a Bible in my hand – this instant!

We have instant access to the Word, and so few utilize it!

We live in a country where we have Freedom of Religion. We can worship openly to our Savior without the fear of punishment.

So, why aren’t more American’s turning to Christ?

The answer is simple: the enemy.

The enemy is doing a fine job of hardening hearts and wreaking havoc on this country. Remember, he knows that his time is limited – the enemy has been defeated through the death and resurrection of our Savior!

Dig into the Word!

My challenge to you, friends, is to dig into the Word and share it with others!

Read your Bible at Starbucks or the local coffee shop. You will be in awe of the number of people that will start a conversation with you!

I encourage you to step out of your comfort zone and talk about what you are reading about in the Word to others.

I am praying for you! America needs a revival, and it begins with us!
