When I began this blog, I intended to stay clear of political posts and current events that are controversial. I wanted this blog to be uplifting and encouraging to women – particularly to mothers by encouraging them to continue to have a deep relationship with Jesus while being in the child-rearing stage of life. What…
Dear Mom, It’s been ten years since I’ve heard your voice. Ten years since your grandsons listened to you sing that silly “Bushel and a Peck” song. Ten years of wanting to pick up the phone when the boys hit a milestone, or when parenting got so tough that I just needed to get advice…
Be Still and Know I am sure that you have seen the popular verse of Psalm 46:10 on t-shirts, pens, and Bible covers. If an item can be monogrammed or decorated, this verse is on it. It’s a comforting verse that we can cling to it in our darkest times, whether we are going through a personal…
Never Be Thirsty Again *My new monthly series, Women of the Bible, begins today. On the third Tuesday of every month, I will feature a woman in Scripture who found her strength in the Lord when faced with adversity or circumstances that were beyond her control.* She chose the noon hour on purpose because no…
1 John 4:7-8 GOD IS LOVE Happy Friday! I pray you all have had a fantastic week! School and work resumed for us on Tuesday, and I have to admit that it was a rough few days for us to get back into the swing of things! For those of you who accepted my challenge…
It’s Time to Love and Not Judge! Have you ever scrolled through your social media posts and stumbled upon what seemed to be an innocent post, only for it to be twisted and misconstrued by a commenter? It’s like a train wreck, and you can’t look away. Next thing you know, 15 minutes of your…
Commit Your Work to the Lord – Proverbs 16:3 Happy Friday! Before the new year began, I committed a few hours of silence and solitude towards setting my writing goals for this year. Article submissions, a possible book proposal, writers conferences, and just writing for the pure joy of writing are on my list for this…
Happy New Years Day! As you start 2019 off, endless possibilities lie ahead of you. A fresh start. A new beginning. A blank page is just waiting to be filled with your story! What are you going to fill it with? Prayers? Goals? Dreams? Aspirations? Acts of kindness? Whatever you decide, please know this – Jesus…
God Will Give You the Desire of Your Heart – Psalm 20:4 Happy last Friday of 2018, my friends! I trust that you had the merriest of Christmases! It was a whirlwind for us leading up to Christmas, but on the day itself, it was very low-key with just the four of us. It was…

We don’t defeat sin by willpower. We overcome by daily relying on the grace, truth, and authority we already have in Jesus.
♦️Grace is not only what saves us, but it’s what trains us. We cannot sanctify ourselves through effort; transformation comes by staying in a posture of dependence on Christ (Titus 2:11–12).
♦️Sin thrives in secrecy but loses power in the light. Honest confession to God and trusted believers is a biblical pathway to healing and freedom (1 John 1:9; James 5).
♦️Victory requires spiritual action. The framework—Confess it. Attack it with Scripture. Block it with boundaries — believers actively cooperate with God’s work in their lives.

Some Christians experience the presence of God as readily as they feel the sunshine on a summer’s day. Others of us are not so fortunate. For us, God’s presence is often much more difficult to find. Like the psalmists, we struggle to know why God seems to be so distant at moments when we so desperately want him to be close. Seekers in the Hands of an Elusive God explores the tension in Scripture’s presentation of God as both everywhere and elusive and offers paths to pursue God during times of spiritual loneliness.

I was encouraged to have Jeffrey M. Leonard (PhD, Brandeis University) on the podcast this week! He is a professor of biblical studies at Samford University, co-chair of the Biblical Hebrew Poetry program unit at the Society of Biblical Literature, an ordained minister, and author of Creation Rediscovered: Finding New Meaning in an Ancient Story.
If you’ve ever wondered where God is in the darkness, this conversation offers both perspective and hope.
