Darkness Will Be Defeated!

When I began this blog, I intended to stay clear of political posts and current events that are controversial. I wanted this blog to be uplifting and encouraging to women – particularly to mothers by encouraging them to continue to have a deep relationship with Jesus while being in the child-rearing stage of life.

What happened last week in New York has changed my intention for this week’s blog post.

I am sickened by what is being celebrated as a victory in the pro-choice world.

New York Governor Cuomo signed a new state law that legalizes abortion up to the birth date if the health of the mother is in jeopardy. The entire country was up in arms about this, and rightfully so -this is murder.

And to add salt to that wound, the governor ordered that One World Trade Center be lit up in pink as a celebration of the signed law.

I read a meme last week on Facebook. It just said, “We live in a time where Satan doesn’t even hide anymore, and we still don’t see him.”

What an astonishingly true statement.

The entertainer, Charlie Daniels, said it best, “Satan is smiling.”

Darkness Will Be Defeated

Whether it’s this absurd abortion law, a child or family member who has walked away from the Lord and is caught up in the world’s desires, brokenness, despair, drug or alcohol use, or marital issues – we are surrounded by darkness.

And with all the darkness of this world, where can we find hope?

In the Word, that’s where!

Here are just a few of the verses that mention light vs. darkness:

John 1:5, “The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.”

Psalm 119:105, “Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.”

John 8:12, “When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, ‘I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.'”

The list of verses goes on and on!

When sin first entered this world in the Garden of Eden, the enemy thought he had won. His goal was to become greater than the Lord.

NO ONE WILL EVER BE GREATER THAN THE LORD.

God is still in control, and He always will be.

The LIGHT will always overcome the darkness. The enemy knows this and is doing his very best to destroy us. He will not be victorious. We already have victory in Jesus. With every nail that was pounded in His hands and feet, our sins were nailed up there with Him.

Armor Up, Dig In, and Pray!

It’s time, sweet friends, to put our armor on, grab our Bibles and get on our knees in prayer.

Yes, Satan is smiling, but not for long. He knows he will be defeated. He knows that we have eternal life in Jesus and that, my friends, is what we need to cling to!
