Let Us Not Grow Weary – Galatians 6:9

Let Us Not Grow Weary

A Verse to Pray for Your Child

The weekend is finally upon us, and the Lord could not have given us more perfect weather for it! I love this time of year when the days are in the low 70s and the overnight hours are cool and crisp.

My poor family knows that when the temperatures and the humidity drop I will be opening up the windows. I call it “airing out the funk.” While I love having two teenage boys, they do have a unique smell that follows them around. They can’t seem to smell it, but I sure can! I always know which of my sons has entered a room without me even turning around to look because I know their smell so well.

I can also tell when one of them has had a bad day at school based on their actions and nonverbal communication. One son will automatically open and talk; the other will keep it bottled up until he’s ready to talk, just like his mother.

I have learned throughout the years that I need to listen and only give advice when asked, and that is hard, because although I want to fix whatever is bothering them, more often than not it is entirely out of my control. So, I do what is best: I pray.

Galatians 6:9

Galatians 6:9 has been on my heart this week. I have reminded my boys over and over again that the Lord is with them and no matter what challenges that await them at school, they are to face them to the best to their abilities. If they study hard and honestly do the best that they can do on a test or project, then it is okay if they don’t do quite as well as they would like. This is a hard pill to swallow for our boys because they both have a touch of perfectionism in them.

I am so happy that the Lord is with us to guide us through this critical stage in life! He is there to uphold us and provide us with the words that we need to be an encourager for our children. I believe that encouragement – and not criticism – is what my boys personally need to succeed in these crazy, hormone-induced teenage years.

Have a wonderful weekend! As always, if you need prayer over something, please email me. I would love to pray for you!
