Seven Verses to Pray When Waiting on the Lord is Hard

Seven Verses to Pray When Waiting on the Lord is Hard

Waiting.

Waiting in line at the grocery store.

Waiting in construction.

Waiting for your food at a restaurant.

Waiting for your children to get ready in the morning.

Waiting on the insurance company to approve medical treatment.

Waiting for test results to come back from the doctor’s office.

Waiting to be healed.

Every day we play the waiting game. We wait, impatiently more often than not, for our lives to move from whatever the situation is. Some of the things that I listed above are just temporary inconveniences in our daily lives. We may even say a little prayer to Lord to get things moving along, and they always do.

But what about the times when we are faced with a challenge, medically or otherwise, that makes us wait on the Lord for an answer?

For me, those are the times that I need to hand it over to the Lord and release my control over it. Because let’s face it, waiting on someone or something is usually always out of our control.

At the beginning of the year, I began a season of waiting for healing with a medical issue. After enduring medical tests after medical tests and different prescriptions, I was not getting any better. Every morning I poured my heart out to the Lord to take this burden away from me. I was in a season of waiting, and that waiting turned into an idol for me.

The Lord knew all my prayers, so why wasn’t He answering them? I don’t know.  What I do know is that once I realized that I was not in control, I handed it all over to the Lord. On March 12, exactly two months after this season began, I felt the weight lifted off of my shoulders. I was able to focus on everything else that was important in my life and not my medical issues.

The Lord has answered some of the prayers regarding parts of this issue; however, I am still in a season of waiting for complete healing.

And while I wait, I will still praise Him; I will still rejoice in the fact that He is in control and that there is nothing more I can do but wait and pray.

Are you in a waiting season? Hand it all over to the Lord, read His Words, and rejoice in the fact that your prayers will be answered! It may not be the answer that you would like, but the Lord will always answer them because He knows what is best for you and me.

1. Psalm 24:4-5

“Make me to know your ways, O LORD; teach me your paths. Lead me in your truth and teach me, for you are the God of my salvation; for you I wait all day long.”

2. Psalm 27:14

Wait for the LORD; be strong and let your heart take courage; wait for the LORD!”

3. Psalm 33:20-22

“Our soul waits for the LORD; he is our help and our shield. For our heart is glad in him, because we trust in his holy name. Let your steadfast love, O LORD, be upon us, even as we hope in you.”

4. Psalm 40:1-3

“I waited patiently for the LORD; he inclined to me and heard my cry. He drew me up from the pit of destruction, out of the miry bog, and set my feet upon the rock, making my steps secure. He put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God. Many will see and fear and put their trust in the LORD.”

5. Psalm 130:5-6

“I wait for the LORD, my soul waits, and in his word I hope; my soul waits for the LORD more than watchmen for the morning, more than watchmen for the morning.”

6. Isaiah 40:31

“But they who wait for the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.”

7. Micah 7:7

“But as for me, I will look to the LORD; I will wait for the God of my salvation; my God will hear me.”
