My Beloved is Mine, and I Am His
Last year, I participated in Proverbs 31’s First 5 study of Song of Solomon. This beautiful love story focuses not only on the love between a man and a woman but also it’s a clear reminder that God created romance for His children to be expressed fully, and He wants us to enjoy that in the context of marriage.
This book of the Bible is full of poetry and love and can cause you to blush at times, especially at 5:00 am! Some may even wonder why this book is even in the Bible. It’s simple. It’s all about love.
Valentine’s Day
Here in the Eversole house, we don’t get caught up in the commercialization of the day. Yes, some couples may love going out to eat and getting romantic gifts for one another, and that is great! But that’s not us. We like to throw some steaks on the grill and give each other cards – sometimes unknowingly, we pick out the same card for each other. As for candy and flowers? The day after Valentine’s is the best time for those gifts – they are 50% off!
In all seriousness, though, after being together for almost 21 years, we don’t need a day to focus on our love for one another because we do that daily.
Whether it’s in the form of taking the trash out, doing laundry, cooking, or doing dishes, acts of service are the best gift for Craig to give to me.
My Beloved is Mine, and I Am His
After getting through the blushing stage of Song of Solomon, you can’t help but get caught up in the love that is expressed between Solomon and his soon-to-be-wife. The whimsical poetry flows with adorning love between the two, from the bride confessing her love, to taking delight with one another, to being together in the garden of love – true love is told throughout the book.
While I don’t hear talk like this from Craig, I do get texts from him daily simply saying, “Have a good day, love you!” Those texts mean the world to me because I know that he stops to think about me in the busyness of his day. We may not be hopeless romantics, but we are soul mates. And at the end of the day, I always know that “my beloved is mine, and I am his.” And that is all that matters.
Happy Valentines Day to you all, and don’t forget to hit up those 50% off sales!
