It’s My Birthday! 46 Random Things About Me

In honor of my 46th birthday today, I thought I would let you, my wonderful blog readers know a little more about myself. Some are obvious; others are quirky!

  1. I was born and raised in Indiana, so I am a Hoosier.
  2. I remember the very first house we lived in, and it had a little nook for the telephone to sit. I thought that was the coolest thing!
  3. My childhood best friend and I would ride our bicycles all over town.
  4. I went to a Catholic school for eight years.
  5. I loved basketball and played it from 6-8 grade.
  6. In my freshman year of high school, I contracted mononucleosis and was out of school for a month.
  7. MTV was on my tv all the time – 24 hours a day.
  8. I worked at KFC during my junior and senior years of high school.
  9. I graduated from high school in 1991.
  10. I have a journalism degree from Ball State University.
  11. My first job out of college was for the company that created the “For Dummies” book series.
  12. Craig and I have been married for over 18 years.
  13. We first met on an email list as fans of Stevie Nicks, and we met face-to-face at her concert in Indianapolis.
  14. I was living in Indianapolis; he was living in a small town in central Illinois.
  15. Craig is 8 ½ years older than me.
  16. I left my job and moved to that little central Illinois town – so small that there are no stoplights.
  17. He’s a farmer. I am a city girl.
  18. Johnny and June, Elvis, Christian, 80s’ and Classic Rock. I could listen to these artists and that genre of music in an hour time span.
  19. March Madness is one of my favorite times of the year.
  20. I gave birth to my oldest at age 29 and my youngest at age 31.
  21. I was induced with boys at 37 weeks due to high blood pressure.
  22. I was in labor with both boys for 38 hours.
  23. I was a stay-at-home mom up until a few years ago when I accepted a part-time job at the school my boys attend.
  24. While pregnant with my older son, I was baptized.
  25. I start listening to Christmas music at the end of September.
  26. I’ve watched Hallmark’s “Countdown to Christmas” while handing out Halloween candy to trick-or-treaters.
  27. Favorite book – Gone with the Wind
  28. Favorite movie – Gone with the Wind
  29. Favorite new author – Karen Kingsbury. I just started reading the Baxter family series in June! What took me so long?
  30. Favorite Southern City – Savannah, GA, and Nashville, TN
  31. Favorite summer food – Fried Green Tomatoes
  32. Favorite all-around food – any meat that is smoked and BBQ
  33. Favorite Bible Verse – Proverbs 3:5-6
  34. Favorite TV shows – Live PD, The Goldbergs, The Big Bang Theory, and Last Man Standing.
  35. Favorite thing to do in the summer – camping
  36. Favorite thing to do in the winter – Bible journaling
  37. Have an ailment? I’ve got an essential oil for that!
  38. After watching football for over 20 years with Craig, I still don’t understand it.
  39. I am a Pittsburgh Steelers fan by marriage.
  40. The only breed of dog that I have ever grown up with and owned in my adult life has been cocker spaniels.
  41. I was a professional photographer for many years, before slowing down and focusing on my family.
  42. I am a Canon girl.
  43. Apple fan for life – once you go Mac, you won’t go back!
  44. I enjoy reading about the American Colonial and Civil War times.
  45. I love Chick-Fil-A everything!
  46. A whole lot of Jesus, coffee, and sweet tea will get me through the crazy days of life!

The woman holding me in the photo is my sweet Grandma Stauffer. I will be writing about her legacy on Tuesday, October 9th post. She has been gone for a few years now, and I miss her very much.
