Five Verses to Pray for Your Student During Finals Week

My high school freshman just spoke these words to me in regards to finals week:

“Mom, just warning you that I am going to be a little tired and cranky this week!”

Ya, think Captian Obvious?!?!?!

Craig and I have noticed within the past week, that both our boys have been tired, stressed, and cranky. The stress of completing projects and studying for finals are getting the best of them! As parents, we are being patient, choosing our words carefully, showing grace when needed, and most importantly, praying fervently for them.

The much-needed summer break will soon be here, but until it comes, we need to pray for our students. I’ve put together a list of scriptures to pray each day this week. If you are a parent of a high schooler, I encourage you to join me!

Philippians 4:6-7

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.  And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

Proverbs 3:5-6

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
and do not lean on your own understanding.
In all your ways acknowledge him,
and he will make straight your paths.”

Philippians 4:13

“I can do all things through him who strengthens me.”

Ephesians 2:8-10

“For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.  For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.”

Psalm 90:17

“Let the favor of the Lord our God be upon us,
    and establish the work of our hands upon us;
yes, establish the work of our hands!”
