128 – How God Builds Families in Unexpected Ways with Katie Cruice Smith

What does it look like to care for vulnerable children when God has not called you to foster or adopt?

In this episode of Bold Faith Now, Missy talks with author, editor, adoptive mom, and foster care advocate Katie Cruice Smith about the beautiful and sometimes difficult journey of adoption and foster care.

Katie shares how God redirected her dream of motherhood after years of infertility and ultimately grew her family through the adoption of three biological siblings. She also challenges the church to look beyond labels and circumstances and see every child as someone created by God, loved by Him, and worthy of welcome and support.

Katie also shares the incredible story behind her children’s book, Why Did You Choose Me?, which began as an essay she wrote while applying for an adoption grant.

Katie reminds us that while not every Christian is called to foster or adopt, Scripture does call us to care for vulnerable children. Sometimes that looks like opening your home. Other times it looks like bringing a meal, offering respite care, helping with homework, sending an encouraging text, praying faithfully, or simply making sure a family knows they are not walking alone.
