One of my favorite winter activities is to travel to the locks and dams of the Mississippi River and photograph the American Bald Eagles that have descended on the area.
These majestic birds are not only our national symbol of freedom, but they are also one of the strongest birds that the Lord has created. As I look through my telephoto lens, I can see their eyes zeroing in on their prey, talons extended out as they sweep in and catch the unsuspecting fish. In flight, the sheer size of their wingspan is majestic; those piercing eyes seem to look right into your soul.
As I stand on the banks of the Mississippi, with camera in hand, waiting for that perfect eagle image, Isaiah 40:31 always comes to mind.
You may be…
waiting for an answered prayer.
waiting to be healed.
waiting for that job promotion.
Waiting, waiting, waiting.
It’s exhausting, and at times, a feeling of hopelessness kicks in. However, if we wait on the Lord, He will take action. He will answer your prayers – it may not be what you expected or when, but He will answer them.
And while we are in the midst of waiting, He will give us the strength that we need to get through whatever we are facing.
Next Week on the Blog
Psalm 46:10 is one of the most well-known verses in Scripture. As the pressures of everyday life begin to mount up against us, let’s dig in on Tuesday and study this verse.
Friday, January 25 marks the tenth anniversary of my mom’s passing. I will be reflecting on my darkest days where I thought I had no hope, and sadness surrounded me. The Great Comforter and my family were there with me through every step of my mourning.
Have a wonderful weekend!
