Love Your Enemies – Matthew 5:44

Love Your Enemies – Matthew 5:44

With only a few more days of February left, we are wrapping up the month of love and this month’s blog series. I hope that you have enjoyed reading about love as much as I have enjoyed writing about it!

Today’s weekend inspiration comes from Matthew 5:44-45, “Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven.”

God loves everyone, including His enemies. And as hard as that sounds to do, we are called to do the same.

But how?

How can we love someone who has been an enemy to us?

By praying for them.

That’s not an easy thing to do, especially if that person has hurt you. But to move past that hurt and start healing, we need to let God work in our hearts. We need to forgive them, and we need to love them. This isn’t something that will happen overnight. It’s a process and most likely a lengthy one at that.

For the past two months, I have prayed for a certain person every day, for my heart to soften and to love them – and I will continue to do so until I can say with full confidence that I love this person.

If you are struggling to love your enemy, I would love to pray for you! Please feel free to email or comment on this post.

New Monthly Series Coming!

As February comes to a close and Lent is right around the corner, I am starting a new series reflecting on the days leading up to the cross and our Savior’s glorious resurrection. There will be a downloadable pdf for you to print off to help you prepare your hearts for this very spiritual time.

Have a blessed weekend!
