Commit Your Work to the Lord – Proverbs 16:3

Commit Your Work to the Lord – Proverbs 16:3

Happy Friday!

Before the new year began, I committed a few hours of silence and solitude towards setting my writing goals for this year. Article submissions, a possible book proposal, writers conferences, and just writing for the pure joy of writing are on my list for this new year.

None of which will be achieved if I don’t put the Lord first in everything.

As a writer,  I can get caught up in numbers: the number of fans on Facebook or Instagram, the number of words needed for article submission, the number of blog posts. Numbers, numbers, numbers! But the truth of the matter is that none of those mean one iota if I don’t put the Lord first. If I make this writing career “all about me” and not about Him, I am putting myself first.

And because I have learned (unfortunately the hard way!) that if I don’t put Him first, life gets way more complicated than it needs to be. All because I took the bull by the horns instead of putting my knees to the floor in prayer.

So this year, I am not going to get caught up in the numbers. I am going to get caught up in God and let Him lead me.

What is Your Goal for 2019?

What about you? What are your goals for 2019? How are you putting the Lord first? Please leave a comment or send me an email – I would love to hear about it!

Next week I will be back to my regularly scheduled posts, and Tuesday’s post is something that may stir up a little conversation (and maybe a few emails!). It’s a challenge that needs to be and should be accepted, and we all need to be committed to it. Here’s a hint – it’s not food-related!

Have a wonderful weekend!
