Be Watchful! The Enemy Loves Seeing Our Fear!

Be Watchful! The Enemy Loves Seeing Our Fear!

A thought occurred to me late last week.

The enemy loves every minute of this.

Please take a minute and think about it.

Being confined to our homes causes tension among family members, resulting in some hurtful words exchanged.

We have not set foot in our churches for three weeks, and worship is now in our homes.

Fear has overcome our faith. These last few days, I have found myself questioning the Lord.

“We are crying out to you, Lord! Do you even hear us?”

“Why haven’t you answered our prayers and wiped COVID-19 out already?

Social media is saturated with updates both from experts and non-experts. While I have seen some heartwarming stories of people helping others, I’ve also seen some people be downright mean to others.

Each one of us is coping with this as best as we can. Let’s use this time to build one another up and not tear them down for trying to survive. The enemy is thriving on this!

Be Sober-Minded and Watchful

Now is the time to grab hold of the Lord’s hand and not let go!

The apostle Peter knew that we would have trouble, and in 1 Peter 5:6-7 said, Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.”

I am sure that you have seen this verse all over social media these past few weeks, but let’s not stop there. Peter knew that if we did not cast all our anxieties on Him, the enemy would use our anxieties to his advantage.

The verse continues, “Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.”

If there is ever a time that the enemy is prowling around, it’s now!

To be sober-minded is to be in control of our thoughts, and may these thoughts not lead us to sin. Fear can lead us to sin, and in that place is where the enemy is ready to pounce!

Armor Up!

If you have been a long-time reader of this blog, you know the phrase, “Armor Up!” Based on Ephesians 6:10-18, we “armor up” with the Lord’s armor that He supplies for us:

These include:

  1. The Belt of Truth
  2. The Breastplate of Righteousness
  3. The Shoes representing the Gospel of Peace.
  4. The Shield of Faith
  5. The Helmet of Salvation
  6. The Sword of the Spirit

Friends, let’s make sure that the enemy sees our armor. Let’s continue to worship the Lord by watching our online church services, being patient with one another, and most importantly, by not letting our fear overcome our faith!

I am confident that we will come through this closer to our families, and our faith will be stronger than ever!

Amen, sister!! This morning, Psalm 61:2 came to mind: “When my heart is overwhelmed, lead me to the rock that is higher than I.” So reassuring.
